Faculty Ms. Masha Bowman has an MA in Russian literature from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and UCLA. She researches contemporary Russian literature and culture. Ms. Ruth Calderon is the founder and executive director of Alma. She was a co-founder and director of Elul, the egalitarian Bet Midrash for religious and secular men and women, in Jerusalem. She is a graduate of the School for Educational Leadership and is writing a doctorate in Talmud at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 1997 Ms. Calderon was awarded the Avi Chai Prize in Israel. Mr. Raz Chen-Morris is a doctoral candidate and teaches in the Cohn Institute for History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas at Tel Aviv University. Dr. Tamar El-Or is a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dr. Rachel Freudenthal-Livne researches the emergence and development of modern Judaism. Dr. Snait Gissis is a researcher at the Cohn Institute for History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas at Tel Aviv University and Executive Editor of 'Science in Context'. She has published a collection of short stories. Dr. Jeffrey Green translator and writer, has a doctorate in comparative literature from Harvard University. He has translated the novels of Aharon Appelfeld into English and Back to Marcel Proust and American Weekend into Hebrew. Dr. Yohanan Greenspan lectures in the Department of Asian Studies at Tel Aviv University and the Department of Indian studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He researches the religion, culture and classical literature of India. Mr. Michael Gurevitz is a theater director. He has directed plays by Israeli and foreign playwrights at leading Israeli theaters, such as Habima and Hacameri. Dr. Zeli Gurevitz is a poet and senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has published anthropological articles on the role and phenomenology of discussion, in addition to five volumes of poetry. Ms. Gail Hareven is a writer and political columnist for the daily newspaper, Ma'ariv. She has published two collections of short stories, two novels, two children's books and a theoretical study. Mr. Gal Levy studied Political Science at the University of London and Tel Aviv University. His research themes include democracy, education and political ethnicity. Dr. Eliezer Malkiel lectures on philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is an expert on the philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein. Dr. Aidel Man'a is a historian and head of the Center for Research on Israeli Arab Society at Bet Berl. He lectures at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. Dr. Gidon Ofrat is a curator and expert on art and philosophy. He has prepared several exhibitions in Israel and abroad, and published more than twenty books and articles on art, philosophy and drama. Mr. Haim Pessach is a Senior Fiction Editor at Keter Publishing Company. He has edited poetry at Am Oved publishers and contributes literary reviews to several journals. Dr. Gadi Prodovsky works full time at Alma. His main field of interest is philosophy of human sciences. Dr. Elhanan Reiner is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Jewish History at Tel Aviv University. He is an expert on the religious and intellectual history of Jews in the Middle Ages. Mr. Ramy Reiner is a research fellow at The Shalom Hartmann Institute. He completed MA studies in Talmud at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and currently researches medieval interpretations of the Talmud. Dr. Rina Rekem-Peled is a historian whose Ph.D dissertation dealt with 'The New Man in the Hashomer Hatzair Movement'. She teaches in the Center of Pre-Academic Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dr. Neta Ronen works full time at Alma. She is an expert on ancient Greek mythology. Dr. Maya Rosenfeld researched social and political change in Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank during the Israeli occupation. She teaches in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Hebrew University o f Jerusalem. Dr. Amnon Raz-Krakotzkin is lecturer in Jewish History at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. His research concerns Jewish-Christian relations and Israeli historical consciousness. Dr. Yossi Schwartz studied medieval religion and philosophy at the universities of Zurich, Freiburg and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He researches and teaches in the fields of late medieval and early modern philosophy, focusing on German culture. Works full time at Alma. Ms. Miriam Schlesinger is a professional translator and simultaneous interpreter for conferences and law courts. She is a senior lecturer in the department of translation at Bar Ilan University. Mr. Bejamin Shvilli is a poet who lectures on Hassidic literature at various institutions. He has recently published 'Kastoria', his first work of prose and was awarded the 1999 Agnon Prize for literature. Prof. Uriel Simon is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Bible Studies at Bar Ilan University. His books deal with biblical narrative and medieval Jewish interpretation. Ms. Nurit Zarhi writer and poet. She has published a novel, a book of poetry, two collections of short stories and a book of stories for young children. Dr. Gabriel Zoran is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at Haifa University. He has published research in literature, literary theory, theory of translation and translations from Greek and German. Ms. Rachel Zoran holds an MA degree in clinical psychology and comparative literature. She is head of bibliotherapy studies at Haifa University and teaches at Oranim College. She has also published a book of poetry. |
